A Grateful Heart For Those Who Teach Scripture

Bible study.

I love it and I am not ashamed about it.  I am not referring to an immensely academic exercise that leaves you confused about Greek, Hebrew and dictionary definitions of words like propitiation and transubstantiation. That has its place for those that way inclined. I am referring to such a love for God that it thrills to open His Words and engage with them as though the Almighty, Eternal, Holy God of Love speaks direct.

It’s not just because I am a word guy. It is because of those encounters with Christ I experience in learning about Him in His Word. It still saddens me that believers can be somewhat spiritually illiterate, thinking that they can get by with occasional sermons and studies with no depth of their own to know God in His own.

Recently I thanked God for His Holy Spirit and an amazing reality of the Indwelling Spirit is a growing desire to know God and grow as you know. That growing also takes place in engaging with those gifted teachers in church.

The list of teachers from whom I have benefited is not short. I say thanks to them here. Thank you for your intensity and passion for Him. Thanks for your commitment and the creativity with which you share so I can know as I grow.

I hope others will likewise treasure quality teaching wherever they can get it.

For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
