Precedent. That which says that future acts can be determined by previous acts.
I reckon that’s how God had it from the beginning. He did day one, so you know He had the next day in order. He had the fruit in the tree, so His provision didn’t have to be questioned. His victories for the people of Israel in tough times allowed them to know that He was ever reliable. The disciples seeing Jesus in action knew what He did before He could do again both in his earthly ministry and then in empowering them to carry on the mission even when He departed.
As I consider life’s challenges today whether for me personally, or for my family, for the church community, for the local community, for the city, for the country. Whatever the case is, I am assured that those who trust in God know that just as He did way back then, as God is God, He can be relied on to do His thing again and again.
That is a reassuring thought.
