Dryden Update – March 2013

This is the first chance I’ve had to post my gratitude to God for February.

Thank you God for February.

It’s a sneeze of a month as you know.  One minute it’s the first of February, you sneeze and the month is over.  Yet it is a month.  A month in which I finish the work I’ve done since September.  A month in which I made some positive steps forward in terms of church activity and church attendance, even if it does not mean things are crystal clear in that area.

I have yet to settle in Derby, really.  Working in Hemel Hempstead for these two months whilst living in Derby has been tough in terms of the time out of the house – leaving at 5:30am and returning nearer 9pm.  So the completion of the contract although disappointing on the income front, is a blessing in other areas.  I want to set myself now in whatever God wants me to do here in Derby.

Blogging has been enjoyable over the last month, and although I’m not doing a March Thru Proverbs every day this month, there are a lot of vital wisdom lessons I hope to be able to share over this month.

Although I’ve not settled, I’m happy to say the two older girls in school are settling, and the youngest one is getting on well with what she does in and around the home!  My wife is carrying on bravely while she walks through certain acclimatising challenges, but remains a great friend and confidant to me as we work our through this stage of the journey together.

We have been particularly blessed to have a family based in derby be a source of great help and encouragement to us in these settling stages and it goes to show again, the importance of relationships when you’re making steps like this.  In as much as we have moved often in our time together, it is no less traumatic.  I am fairly certain if that family hadn’t been there to offer support, it would have made matters considerably worse.

The husband is the guy who I play squash with now, and he’s keen to see people come to know Jesus and grow in that way, and that is highly infectious, so that has set me up to be excited about what can happen in encounters with people.  That’s a very good thing.

I’ve started reading books again after a little stint doing without, so that is positive as well and I’m grateful for that.  What the next step for us – for me – is still unclear, but I remain ever watchful and prayerful for what He shows.  Keep us in your prayers in that regard – and thanks for remembering us in prayers even as you read this blog from time to time.  Every time you ‘like’ an article, it is hugely appreciated.

Here’s to what God does next!

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
