I often wonder about real love. I listen to stories of relationships where people have been used and abused and they’ve stuck around longer than is healthy because of love. A love they have for the person and a love they perceive is reciprocated in some bizarre fashion by the one claiming to love them. I often wonder about that. I wonder about the love that saw the Father give His Son so that those who were once His enemies would be welcomed as sons. I wonder about the love that saw Him leave the deposit of His Holy Spirit in the lives of those who by nature rejected Him. I wonder about the love that endures through failing after failing against all odds. I wonder about the love that holds on when others give up and believes when others have turned their backs.
I wonder about the love that celebrates every little thing about the object of that love that is worthy of celebrating which we can often miss mired in low self-esteem. I wonder about the love that rejoices and dances and sings. I wonder about the love that encourages, inspires and enthuses. I wonder about that love and realise that this love cannot ever be fully fathomed for God Himself is that same everlasting love and knowing Him is an endless journey that will take eternity to begin. In the meantime it’s worth enjoying that endless journey with that same everlasting love.
For His Name’s Sake
