All expenses paid. I love that aspect of work.
The task needs you to spend a period of time away from home. You’ll need transport, accommodation and food covered and some might even allow something in the way of entertainment. You keep a record of what you’ve spent and as long as it’s reasonable, those costs will be reimbursed. In some cases you don’t even have to spend a penny of your own money because they will supply a company credit card on which all those costs can be loaded.
In essence they are doing all they can to make your job as straightforward as possible. They have contracted your services and require you to deliver to the best level possible, if they can remove any hindrances they will because they want the quality. That’s a tangible expression of their trust in you.
The trust and the quality is important because they are sending you to represent the company the name as you give what you have to offer. Their reputation is at stake, their name is on the line. If you show up and excel it will reflect on you and more importantly it will reflect well on those who sent you. The investment will be worthwhile and the payment for the services will be value for money. That opens the door for more investment later on and it will heighten the chances of you being sent on even more lucrative assignments.
This might appear to describe the lifestyle for only a certain section of the workforce. There is more to it than that, however, because those who follow Jesus Christ should recognise how they themselves have also been given assignments to complete. Provisions and support has been given for them to complete it. The issue is whether or not they even acknowledge this reality.
The message of the Kingdom and life in Christ is a radically transforming one. Nothing can ever be the same after an encounter with Him. The radical nature of this life is that it is one where you don’t belong to yourself and everything committed to Him is for His purpose. That everything includes relationships, time and even the job you do. As you are no longer from this world, but have a primarily heavenly citizenship, your presence in the world is as one who is sent.
It’s good to be reminded that you are sent and who sent you as well as to discover why you’ve been sent and for how long.
As His name is at stake we have the responsibility of revering it, loving it, knowing it more and more. The onus is on Him to start, support and complete the work for which He sent us. He trusts us to carry out the task in an excellent way, because He gives us everything we need to be able to do it as we place our trust in Him.
It means all expenses are paid. I love that aspect of work.
