Getting Some Perspective On Our Position

In his letter to the church in Ephesus – a letter I rather enjoy reading – Paul informs the readers/listeners among other things that they are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

You ever thought about what that means?  If not, it’s worth considering what on earth – or in heaven – Paul means by that statement.  It’s a huge statement in the context of some huge statements about who we are, how we’re related to each other and crucially how we’re now related to our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ because of grace.

The more I’ve been thinking about it, the more I get the impression that having that realisation of our position, should change our perspective on a number of things.  No longer do we need to look at it from the angle of someone plodding on in the hum-drum life.  We get a broader view.  The bigger picture.

Do we get to know everything? Nah.  Spoilers!

Yet we get a glimpse that what we’re going through will be worthwhile.  If what we do for Christ will stand, and we base our lives in Him, and allow Him to direct us through life by His Spirit, then there is a glorious end that awaits us, with glimpses of that glory on the journey.

Being seated with Him is more than that though, isn’t it?  Is it?

Well, think about it.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom

  1. Great post Chris (as usual!). This is also one of my favourite letters. I love the way you leave the question hanging at the end; better that people think for themselves.

    1. Thanks very much Chris (great name). I am still learning to not fill in all the blanks in my writing. Like listening to good radio, much of the best work is left for the listener to do. Thanks again, Chris.
