September Sojourn: Excited Over Finding The One

Imagine being part of a long line of people waiting for The One.

Your Dad waited, his Dad waited, his Dad waited too – and this waiting had gone on for as long as yoi can remember.

Stories of what The One would be like and what He would do had multiplied generation after generation. Despite setbacks the hope remained. Even in the bleakest moments, the reassurance came through that He would make His appearance and all wrongs would be made right, and the injustices would be dealt with decisively. Asaurances l8ke thesw kept the story alive.

Can you imagine after such a wait being in the privileged position of seeing Him AND  accepting the call to follow Him?

One word for a response would be – excited.

Is it exciting to follow The One? Does it thrill the soul to know the Light and Life extends the invitation to walk where He walks? Does the heart bulge with zeal at the every day chance we get to see Him who all of creation was waiting for?

Or is it a pleasant routine, convenient in the busy schedule? Does the cares of this life choke out any sense of the hobour of having Jesus with us? Does the pursuit of financial stability and social acceptability play a key role in reducing people’s appetite for the glorious freedom to be found in the Messiah?

Being a follower of Christ is as exciting an invitation as it was to the early disciples. Invited to take part in His life and love is amazing. It is not a convenience for our benefit, it is a special honour for which believers should wake and go to sleep being thankful for them.

Now our lives individually and corporately give the best chance to rejoice in working with The One. We can get excited about where He will lead us. If we continue to place this beyond others.

For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
