23rd May.
Wow, it’s been a while hasn’t it. Those of you of that persuasion may have noted that I’ve been tweeting, and occasionally looking at Facebook, but no blogging. A good question to ask, is what’s up with that?
Been a busy month for me. A very busy month indeed including
- Another house move (because as you know, I just cannot get enough of moving houses*). That also included teething pains with internet access.
- My middle daughter’s 7th birthday celebration
- A big old do to celebrate the 10th wedding anniversary of my beloved wife and I.
- Starting a new job.
- A laptop that is giving the signs that its time of functioning is approaching it’s end (he says as he types the letter key ‘e’ 82 times before it registers properly).
Now with all of that carrying on as well as still seeking to find and occupy my place when it comes to being part of the community of faith, there has been no time to devote to blogging as I’d like. Hence the enforced hiatus.
I’ve not enjoyed it to be honest. I like blogging as an outlet. I could have blogged through my phone, which I use copiously for messaging and tweeting, but blogging and tweeting are different exercises to me. The former can be done anywhere and is based on a quick and simple thought.
Blogging is a more deliberate extended writing exercise for me, and a phone doesn’t afford me the typing capacity to crack on as I would on the trusty keyboard of a laptop (he says grateful that he didn’t have to type ‘e’ in that sentence … although he just did for this parenthesis).
I may not have had time to blog, but I certainly made time to read blogs, and it’s such a privilege to digest and process some really stirring material from a wide range of Christian bloggers about the faith. Particular hats off as ever goes to Alan Knox, not just for the original material he’s producing, but the occasional blog entries he posts referring to the works of others. His blog is certainly one I would strongly recommend adding to your Feedly list!
Speaking of which, I’m very grateful to Jeremy Myers for posting this about Feedly and how useful it is, if like me you enjoy reading a number of blogs, but don’t want the hassle going to every site. It’s a great article that does the work I would have done … but good.
Just because I’ve not been blogging, doesn’t mean I’ve not been full of what to blog about, and for every idea I get, another day comes along and there’s a new idea! So I won’t put meself under pressure to play ‘catch up’. I’ll go with whatever flow inspires its way to me typing as time goes on (subject to ‘e’ not playing up).
In the meantime, thanks for your patience and here’s to more posts popping up that will contribute to this wonderful conversation about life, love, Christ, faith, grace, community, discipleship and why those who love coffee are in need of so much prayer for deliverance.*
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
