I am prone to wander. Such is the state of who I am at times that I get sidetracked from the main purpose of living. So hearing songs like this remind me that I am in a loving relationship with the Creator of the universe who has made it His point of duty to shape and refine me in His family so that I will radiate His presence and His character and one day will be conformed to the image of His Son. That connection, however far I wander leaves me desperate for Him and empty without Him and thus complete in Him and overjoyed in His presence.
I take it then that the singers who have a little riff here and there are also keen not to spend too long away from the presence. Fair enough.
(For the sake of those interested the vocalists are: Rance Allen, Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Winans, Marvin Sapp, Ted Wynn, Kelly and Karen Clark-Sheard.)
Oh and also for the sake of things here’s the original put together by the incomparable Winans.
For His Name’s Sake
