How apt this picture is in the world in which we live.
That is reflected in everyone’s favourite conversation starter ‘How are you?’ As you know you can answer in one of three ways ‘Oh I’m fine, thanks!’ Or ‘I’m not too bad, thanks.’ Or you could try the truth. Of course you don’t have time for the truth and the person who asked you probably doesn’t have the time either, but apparently it’s part of good manners and creating chit-chat.
Forget that.
One of the beautiful things about reality in Christ is that it penetrates the masks to identify what the issue really is and provide comfort to those who need it as well as a challenge where necessary as well.
As agents for change reflecting the Kingdom of God, I hope we can help others to unmask as we learn to live without the mask ourselves. By the way, how are you?
