You thought I would just let it go, right? I got my little blogs out and that would be enough. Not quite yet. Not yet by a long chalk. There was the initial desire for Christian community – I’ll keep you updated. There was the consideration of Michael Frost’s definition of the purpose of the church.
Now we’ve got this candidate that has a really neat, summary of what church is all about that goes beyond a simple view routines and rituals and gets into something more and less than that. Lots of material to consider. So what do you reckon? Compelling? Appealing? Convincing? Missing something? Missing a lot? (I’m sure this was not the final word on defining church.) Are they onto something?
What do you reckon?

Yes, I like the simplicity of this presentation. I could be critical of its theological basis as presenting church as centered on a person rather than Jesus, i.e the church is you! I don’t want’ to create contention for contention’s sake though. For many, new churches as well as traditional, the church can too easily become an impersonal institution or one to be manipulated and controlled to an impersonal agenda. People are the focus of God’s affection in Jesus Christ that brings salvation into our lives. Church, therefore, should have the same focus of affection and be moved by the love of God in Jesus Christ in all we do. Peace to you in him.
i thought , yeah i can go with that, simple explanation…then i read this one comment and i realised …..wot about jesus…..but thank you …
