To Be Like Jesus – New Day, New Year, Same Request

There is something about the whole time of year that gets people up and excited about this, that and the other and it’s not my routine to make it that big a deal.  To me it is just a new day.  Yet there is enough significance in the new day to rejoice, be thankful, be hopeful and ever long to be connected and enriched by Jesus in me.

I might come across sometimes as being heavily critical of the church tradition that I come from, maybe I am.  One thing I’m not critical about is the exposure to great hymns and spiritual songs they gave me that continues to nourish my spirit and reflect the desires of my heart.

This song is a great example of that.  The organ version above is the tune that I’m familiar with, but I’m thrilled to hear another arrangement from the men’s choir below.  Both say the same thing that is the request of my life – I want to be like Jesus.  That was the whole point of the series over December about who Jesus is.  Knowing who He is I want to be like Him – in His character, in His mission given to me, in His love for the Father, in His compassion for humanity, in all that He is I want to be like Him.

Hope you do too, whatever the day, year or lifetime.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
