What Problem? Perspective, Praise and Overcoming – A Prelude

Zoë woke up for feed and subsequently woke Authrine up who subsequently woke me up to make the feed for Zoe at roughly 4am this morning.

Now as you know 4am is a ghastly hour to be taken out of the slumbers.  At 5am I can make an effort to start the day even if I’m a bit drowsy doing it, but at least I’ll be doing something constructive and perhaps even be ready for work on time!  At 3am it’s preposterously too early to do anything and indeed there has been many a time when I’ve finished a day at 3am so I can afford to get in a good few hours sleep.  4am though.  That’s a nightmare.  And the joke is, you’re awake.  It’s not a nightmare in its very real sense, it’s a nightmare and you’re awake – it’s a joke.  It’s not funny.

On this occasion, I elected to stumble out of bed, prepare the feed and deliver it to my beloved wife before resuming some semblance of sleep.  Now as you’re aware when you take that choice, you do so with the very real risk of waking up slightly later than scheduled.  Of course, by slightly later, what it actually means is inconveniently, drastically, manically later than scheduled.

Of course, that is what took place.  Ideally I should be aroused from sweet restful sleep at 6:30am giving me sufficient time to get bathed, get shirt ironed, prepare breakfast for the Dryden women and then depart preferably no later than 7:30 sneaking in an allowance of five minutes.  In actuality this morning my poor beloved wife had to wake me from my slumbers as the clock had comfortably eased past 7:05am.

Despite the lateness, I ambled up, grabbed me laptop and set meself up in the spare bedroom which is where the ironing is done.  For some reason known only to God, what was in mind was to set up the Terry MacAlmon brief playlist of Holy Are You Lord (as seen above), This Is The Time and Oh The Glory Of Your Presence.  I never heard the last one.

The first one was the one in mind and was apt to play as a soundtrack to start the day and bearing in mind what would take place later was the most appropriate tune for the time.  I ironed me shirt to that tune and then went down to make the hot beverages for the Dryden women and promptly started the This Is The Time tune in me own head.  I love the tune anyway, it is one that helps in a great deal of situations and on this occasion it hit home in a manner that helped put things into … perspective.

So as I returned upstairs to get changed after handing the Dryden women their hot beverages I was deeply contemplating the song.  Erupting in the praise I was evidently emotionally moved as well as I exhorted the good lady wife that the only way to overcome was through praise.  To which the poor beloved still in between the land of nod and the wide awake club gave her assent in as much as she could muster.  What’s this all about, I can hear you asking – stay right there – I’ve got the answer … in a future blog entry.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
