It’s Good To Talk – It’s Good To Tweet – It’s Good To Text

I just spent the evening in the company of my wife whilst watching Japan take on and comfortably beat Denmark in their last group match in World Cup 2010.  I love watching football with Authrine anyway, but there was something about the match today which took her to a whole other level of engagement with the game.  She was cracking off one liners and hilarious comments that m ade a very good game all the more engaging.

That would have been pleasant enough, but to add to that I was in regular text contact with my dear friend and work colleague Rob Simmonite who has to be one of the funniest people I know.  His humour, banter, wit, intelligence and rapport is right up there with some great people I know.  So he was chipping in with regular text updates on running gags throughout the match as well as those linked through the game.  Mixing those with Authrine made the whole thing massively good fun.

Add to that the Twitter factor which wasn’t the case today, but has been a valuable friend to read and to express stuff and you have the makings of three different ways of engaging and communicating.  I’ll always value the human interactive touch above all else, but I’m grateful for the communication methods to stay in touch with precious people and feel like their presence is with me to make the occasion go so smoothly and enjoyably it’s almost as though they were physically here.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
