Saved The Best For Last – Marvin Winans and MCCC

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12)

We all need deliverance in different ways – quality lyrics from a quality song.  I first heard this song it must be over a decade now and in fact if it’s from the Wellingborough days we’re talking about over 15 years.  At the time I had no idea that the vocalist was the remarkable Pastor Marvin Winans.  In terms of vocalists I put Marvin right up there with the best and to know he is a merchant for the gospel just makes it even better.  There can be no doubt that a good vocalist with good music can affect the mood and temperament of a situation and when he allows Himself to be used as a channel for God then nothing but good is in store for those who benefit from it.

Marvin knows why his vocal career has panned out as it has and he’s evidently prioritised the preaching and being a pastor, which is fair enough.  Yet it works on so many levels just hearing from the guy singing his praise to the Creator as well as encouraging the troops.  Sometimes people do get discouraged and feel God is a long way away especially as others appear to be prospering, but this song is a great reassurance that whatever doubts may come, because that bond is set by Him whatever the deliverance required  He has always come through and will always come through.  It’s a great hope and a great indicator to that which awaits those who remain faithful to Him who began the good work.

Soak up the encouraging lyrics and reflect on the good news that those who remain stedfast know that God has indeed crowned it all of saving the best for last.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
