This post brings to a conclusion a mini-series I’ve done since last night on different versions of this one song. I’ve been through the beginning with the version I’m most used to. Then I posted an entry with a life-changing encounter with a version that got me thinking seriously about the lyrical content. All the […]
Read More Love So Amazing, So Divine …Following yesterday’s first version of WISTWC it’s fair to say that at the time I didn’t pay too much attention to the song itself. As age has had a habit of doing for a while it was as I grew that the weightiness of the lyrical content began to hit home. I remember back whilst […]
Read More When I Survey The Wondrous Cross – Kathryn ScottThere are three versions of this song and although I don’t usually do the music thing at this time, I’m happy to make an exception for a song that means so much to me. The lyrics provide the reason why I am profoundly moved by it. In line with the focus of the next 24 […]
Read More When I Survey The Wondrous Cross – My First VersionI close my eyes sometimes and just think, meditate, contemplate and imagine. Worship is about opening the mouth and expressing what the heart says, for me it is equally about that build up inside so that what comes out is the outlet of what has been bubbling up inside. Songs like this take me to […]
Read More There Is None Like You – Alvin SlaughterI love the music of Andrae Crouch. My mother introduced him to me at an early age and I’ve stuck by it ever since, and this is one of the standards that have made him so great. He’s great because he allows himself to be used as a channel of giving glory to God and […]
Read More CD Songs – Andrae Crouch – Through It AllJust worth reflecting and acting out the necessary response to the fact that we are recipients (and can lead others to also receive) the most incredible gift in the world – the love of God. For His Name’s Sake Shalom dmcd
Read More Amazing Love – Lou FellinghamI love songs that explore the workings of the writer in their relationship with God. Praise songs that identify characteristics of God are great and have their place, but often they can become somewhat routine and fall under a kind of rote memory exercise. When you’re listening to someone’s heart pouring out their relationship, there’s […]
Read More DMCD Songs: Bless My Soul – Marcus ColeYeah I could write tons about why this song is brilliant, but check the story behind the song above and then listen to the song itself and should you be among those so blessed, rejoice again in Salvation’s Song. For His Name’s Sake Shalom dmcd
Read More Salvation’s Song – Stuart TownendSongs reflecting the good and bad times and the call to still praise and worship the Creator are tough songs to write, but relieving songs to sing. They’re tough to write, because the cost of going through the experiences you write about are necessarily tough. Going through them, though, and seeing God’s faithfulness even in […]
Read More Blessed Be Your Name – LCGC Featuring Matt RedmanThis song is a decent follow up to what I was talking about yesterday concerning the Fatherhood of God. The song works well as a children’s song, and should work in the same way for anyone who looks to relate to God in that childlike faith manner that His Son recommended. For His Name’s Sake […]
