For what I’m about to write I hope it is received in a spirit of thoughtfulness and love. The years of cruel rule had to come to an end and in the most dramatic way, a nation emerged and the world from then on would never be the same. I am of course referring to […]
Read More Independence or Liberation: Raining on the ParadeMoses is a shepherd. Where once he was part of Egyptian royalty with an upbringing in the most prestigious courts of world power as well as a heritage in a unique people group, now all of that is far away as he looks after the herds of his father-in-law. How the mighty have fallen. Yet […]
Read More All ConsumingDecisions we make determine the path we take in life. I know some people into science fiction and enjoy the thought of alternative timestreams which shows how life might have turned out if certain decisions had been taken. What if Kennedy didn’t go to Dallas in November 1963? What if Hitler was never born? What […]
Read More Different Paths Of RighteousnessBefore I paid attention to Proverbs and long before anyone told me about wisdom, I was given some valuable life lessons by the words of my parents. Particularly my mother. My Dad was not verbose and so mastered the model of speaking few words with great wisdom and authority. So it was my mother who […]
Read More Wisdom From Home: Show Off Brings DisgraceWhen is an opportunity actually a diversion? When does a noble well intentioned God-idea get ever so slightly distorted by well meaning but erroneous man-plans? When is a step of faith a fateful step? I wish I took it more seriously, especially as a tutor you’d have thought it would be a maxim that I applied with the vigour of a man most vigorous. Honesty says that I get caught […]
Read More Giving Credit Where Its DueI was watching the first episode of The Kennedys. Apparently the dudes over the pond got upset about it for a variety of reasons. Thankfully folk over here like the good ol’ BBC had no such qualms. Without giving away too much if you have not watched it, part of the episode covers the World […]
Read More Believing: For What ReasonI sometimes wonder if we don’t make things hard for ourselves. When I lived in Stoke-on-Trent and was part of a church there, I remember doing an exercise encouraging people to share faith from where they are called Gospel Connections. It was a concern to me that people didn’t make the link between the beauty […]
Read More Everything Linked To The GospelI am often caught up with myself and forget to be grateful for what appears minor but is actually a major part of growing in Christ. God graciously shows that in the context of my immediate family life. My first born daughter is 6 years old. It is apparent that her gifting lies in vocal […]
