The worst lead to have in football is to be two goals up.
One goal ahead is tenuous. Anything can happen. It only takes a moment for an equaliser to come in. With two goals, though, there can be uncertainty in the team that takes that lead. Should they push for a third, or can they afford to let the other team have possession and hold the lead?
