Everything Changes From Where You Are

It is true. It’s not that everything that was going on was wrong. There may very well be some good in what is being done.

The life of following Jesus, however, does include a degree of challenging everything. Everything.

You think it’s a given that being married is a good thing. You see your upbringing and think it’s a given that the best environment to bring up children is preferably with two loving parents. You think that’s as safe as houses. Even that is challenged when you follow Jesus. Not challenged in the sense that its wrong, but challenged in the sense of what is a home under the lordship of Jesus? What is a marriage where Jesus is at the centre? How is a home enriched even if it doesn’t have two parents, because of the presence of Jesus?

Everything is challenged.

The process of mind renewal to discover the good, perfect and acceptable will of God, is not something that is passed down from father to son. It’s something that each individual expereinces as they develop their own relationship with God for themselves and in the context of the believing community.

Everything is challenged in the process of everything being changed from where you are. Changed to reflect closer what life looks like when Jesus is practically Lord of your all, rather than just sentimentally Lord of some at emotional highs. Changed to reveal more what life is when Jesus is actually Lord of your all, rather than conveniently Lord when ill health hits or the bills come in.

It’s the process, it’s the journey, it’s everything being challenged as Jesus rules and we are transformed through the renewing of our minds.
