It’s about time you owned that.
Stop deflecting. Stop blaming others for the situation. Stop putting it down to apparent factors beyond control as though you have successfully deluded yourself into thinking there was nothing you could do.
Stop that. Look at where it’s got you and consider carefully how it has not brought you any peace or progress in your life. You can seek to run and hide as much as you want but staying away from the reality does nothing to change it.
It’s about time you owned that.
Taking ownership for that won’t be easy. Apologies will have to be given where possible. Clinical steps will have to be taken. If tears have to be shed so be it, but let that never detract from what is happening in this. What is happening is taking responsibility for it as much as you can.
Be assured, however, that this is not the only step in the journey. Owning that is not a step to keeping that. When you own it, the next thing to do is to see if you want to keep it. Until you own it, you cannot sell it, you cannot get rid of it until you acknowledge that it’s yours in the first place. Once it is yours and you see it for what it is – how repulsive and ugly it is. Then you can look to get rid of it.
That won’t be easy either because there won’t be many people in the market for that kind of junk. Thankfully however, there is Someone who is willing to trade your junk for something of infinite worth. Indeed in one of the most scandalous and outrageous exchanges in humanity the deal is if you acknowledge it, own it and then turn to Him and confess it and seek to repudiate it, He will show you how He’s taken it and in exchange give you that which is of infinite worth. That which is of that value is able to give you the life to keep on acknowledging, owning, repenting and renewing.
Your turn to Him is part of the ongoing process that makes you more like Him, reflecting His image and shining in the light of His glory.
That’s something to look forward to in the light of trusting in Him and always turning to Him when you acknowledge there are things you need to own before you get rid of it.
First thing, though – it’s about time you owned that.
