Problem Being Simple

There’s a lot to be said for keeping things simple.

We can complicate things and often we do, much to our detriment. So much of life is full of things we don’t need at all and things would be better if we only simplified things. Our structures of business work better with simple models.

In the quest to be wise, a contrast is made between the wise person and the simple person.

How long O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing? Proverbs 1:22

From this, we need to know what does ‘simple’ mean in this context. The definition here is ‘folly’. Wisdom wants to know why those prone to do foolish acts love to do foolish acts?

It’s a good question. It highlights a question of habit, of what we’re likely to do. No one wants to be known for foolishness or that sort of simplicity, but consider the decisions we make and the mess we find ourselves in. Whether at work, in finances, in relationships, in gaining a balance over all of life.

No wonder wisdom makes itself available. It’s perhaps in our best interests not to keep it simple.
