The Reason Why I Tweet

The following is something that was inspired by an email I received from a very close person in my life … relationally.  If you read it in a particular way it may be structured in a familiar way to a song that was rendered originally by one Kirk Franklin.  Due thanks go to him for the lyrical structure, that I’ve been able to amend for my own purposes!

For some who don’t understand my purpose, and may not understand my tweets, here’s my blogging in Jesus’ name would like to tell you the reason why I tweet.

Someone asked the question.  Why do I tweet?  When I type the very short message, what do I really mean?  Someone maybe wondering, when I tweet my stuff, at times it may seem boring or something’s really wrong.  I tweet because I’m happy.  I tweet because I’m free.  My finger’s on the keyboard.  That’s the reason why I tweet.  Glory, hallelujah, that’s the reason why I tweet.  Story’s coming to ya, with the reason why I tweet.

Someone asked the question.  Why do I tweet? Is there nothing better doing, than telling where you meet?  And when they see the tweeting, they question am I sane.  Is my life so laptop driven, that nothing’s left in my brain.

And when the day is over, I really should be asleep.  You will find the Twitter sounding, as I send another tweet.  And when my life is over, we’ve all said amen.  Lift my hand onto a keyboard, so I can go tweet again.

I tweet because I’m happy.  I tweet because I’m free.  I tweet because it’s good stuff.  And most of all for God’s glory.  Glory hallelujah, that’s the reason why I tweet. Good stuff’s coming to ya, that’s the reason why I tweet.  Glory hallelujah, I give the tweeting for you, glory hallelujah, that’s the reason why I tweet.  That’s the reason why I tweet.

That’s the reason why

I

Why I love Twitter is because I can follow those people who are on there that I admire or am intrigued by and when they do something of interest, read something of interest, watch something of interest I love catching up on it.  As you would have noted at present my own actual tweeting is reserved for blog updates, but back when I wasn’t as busy I would take pleasure in tweeting on action whilst watching a football match, a film or perhaps an episode of Dr. Who.  It would be good just to also tweet the occasional thought that pops up as well as if I come across something of interest to tweet that as well.

It’s like the blogging for me, it keeps an online record of what’s happened in the life and times of Christopher Dryden.  I can mark the journey I’ve made in life via this method and it will act as a testimony for generations to come of what has happened and how the grace of God has impacted my life to engage with issues from the superficial and mundane to the outstanding and profound.

I realise that I won’t be ‘famous’ in my lifetime, and that’s alright.  I realise I won’t have prominence in the eyes of the world, and that’s alright.  I realise, however, that I am gifted to write and record it for others as well as for myself to reflect on in future times.  I might as well do it and Twitter provides a wonderful brief forum for that to happen.

As you’ll also note, I tweet all the time.  I’m not attached to a laptop to tweet incessantly and my actual tweeting has dropped off since recent developments have seen my time allocated elsewhere, but I do love the device and the initiative and like most things it can be utilised for God’s glory – so it might as well be.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
