Following Jesus costs relationships.
People with whom you used to be close can reach a stage where your decision to follow Jesus places a barrier that they cannot get around or get over. They just cannot understand why you would believe God would be calling you to do that. They don’t get it to the point where things noticeably cool in your relationship.
It hurts. It takes the reassurance of Jesus to help get over it. Because some won’t understand.
