20 for 20 #19 Blogging But Not Alone

This blog has been an expression of whatever I’ve been thinking for 20 years. Not every post in this blog has been written by me. More importantly, I could not have written this blog alone, even if the majority of entries have my name on them.

I was mindful of this when I wrote an entry thanking God for those who inspired and motivated me with their brilliant work. The people mentioned in that list are cherished. Times have changed, and it would be interesting to see who I would mention if I updated that post.

One name mentioned in that post is Alan Knox. What an amazing blogger this guy was. I say “was” not because he’s dead (to the best of my knowledge), just to acknowledge that I don’t keep up with where he’s at with writing as much anymore. This 20-for-20, though, is only possible because of his inspired works. I’m glad that i was able to make a note of that here.

Blogging is something I enjoy a great deal, and doing it for twenty years is not something I do out of obligation or to become rich and famous. I appreciate the delight in words God has given me, that outlet to share whatever is deemed right for the time. The blog has gone through different phases, and it hasn’t always been possible to be as consistent as I’d like. There was a time when I was prolific in producing material, and although I don’t expect to return to that level of daily blogging, seasons like that have instilled in me a desire to create content of one sort or another every day. So it might not be on this blog, and it might not even be online. Still, something is being developed and produced daily, in pursuit of consistency, that embeds creative expression for His glory, as regularly as eating and drinking.

Speaking of producing content, this platform allowed me to have the privilege of being a part of a writing project for a book on a topic close to my heart – the church. That project was edited by one of the bloggers I enjoyed reading, Eric Carpenter. Seeing that project go from inception to a book still available for purchase was a tremendous experience.

Some have asked since then whether I’m writing a book and how it’s coming along. What I can say at this stage is that there’s plenty of work that’s gone on in the background. I’m confident that in the fullness of time, you will observe what will be published. Just keep praying.

I take this opportunity to thank God for the presence of Chris Jefferies in the comments on various blog entries. He is someone that I admire for what he writes on his own site called, Journeys of Heart and Mind, and for him to even take the time to read, comment and encourage what goes on here is something I appreciate a great deal.

In the meantime, as long as God gives me the breath and inspiration, I’ll endeavour to keep blogging.

For His Name’s Sake
