20 for 20 #9 Only By Following Jesus

It is really odd to see people in a musical setting displaying a great deal of attention to God, only to see their lives afterwards not mirroring that kind of passion.

To be honest, that’s understandable. We can create atmospheres that draw people into a daze and wonder at the beautiful, wonderful Jesus. Those setups can really move people emotionally in the moment. There’s a great deal of catering and capitalising on that scenario in the hope that people will make a decision to see Jesus as their personal Saviour.

I’ve witnessed too many men and women of God doing the things of God to get caught up in the hype. I’ve seen men and women of God who have worked all hours of the day and night, working with people, being present with people, coming alongside to suffer with people and doing the kind of work that won’t get caught on camera to go on a social media campaign to market the bright shining new ministry.

This contributes to the explanation of why Discipleship is a major driving theme on this blog. It’s not claiming to be an expert on the subject. It is about claiming to be an avid student of the subject. I enjoy writing about it copiously, but not as much as I enjoy partaking in the practice of it. As that happens, here’s a selection of entries on the topic worth a read on your part.

For His Name’s Sake
