The host is not the star of the show or the centre of attention. The host knows that his role should be such that nobody remembers him but recalls the occasion as things went by smoothly.
When the applause is given at the end, the host should be content being nowhere near the front. And in all other aspects, he should be fine taking the back seat because his job is done setting up the main event.
