WIWO: 1 Timothy Final Day 10: Application

Final Day 10: Application Areas to Consider

Leadership: How will you lead with greater integrity and character?

Focus on Jesus, daily repent and daily believe, regularly hold myself accountable to the spiritually mature, constantly seek to be filled with the Spirit, persistently pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness, humble myself and practice purity as Jesus is pure and use this as the platform to set the example to those in my sphere of influence.

Doctrine: How will you better discern and defend sound teaching?

Rely on the Holy Spirit, immerse myself in the living Word of God, listen to and accept sound teaching from the Scripture and teachers of repute, regularly challenge my understanding of sound doctrine and reinforce it in conversation, writing and teaching opportunities; be able to work out what doesn’t fir with sound doctrine and challenge it with grace and boldness—exercising these aspects as a part of my regular course of life so that I’m known as man of the Word and a man of the Way, Truth and the Life.

Relationships: How will you show greater honour and care in your community?

Not sure how it can be measured to be “greater” but there’s a reminder to commit to being in touch with saints, expressing their value in word and action, committing them to the Lord in prayer consistently, identifying opportunities to celebrate the family, making regular interaction with the saints common in my life and valuing them for the brilliant creations of God that they are.

Godliness: What spiritual disciplines will you pursue more intentionally?

The intentional spiritual disciplines that help me to pursue and exhibit godliness include: all kinds of prayer, confession and repentance, songs to God, reading, studying and taking on the Word of God applied to all parts of my life, fasting as called and led by the Spirit, understanding and pursuing the Kingdom of God and His righteousness as my number one priority.

Stewardship: How will you handle money and possessions more faithfully?

Again, it’s not a matter of measuring if something is “more” faithful. It is an issue of what it is to be faithful as a steward, and that is about being led by the Spirit to observe that everything I have and am belongs to God. That means He leads me to the best use of everything I have, including money. That means I look to Him for how to make the best use of all that I have and all that I am, so I can be a faithful steward so that He can be glorified. That’s relevant to how I manage myself, relationships, resources and time. His wisdom gives me the Kingdom First mentality, so His wisdom will guide me to manage all of these things well, and I can return to Him double of everything that He’s given me.

2 Timothy – Day 1: Orientation & Expectations

Read Acts 16:1-5; Acts 20:17-38; skim 2 Timothy.

Memory verse: 2 Tim 1:7.

Context: What do these Acts passages reveal about Paul, Timothy, and Ephesus?

Content: While skimming 2 Timothy, list words or ideas that repeat.

Concept: Which big themes emerge (e.g., suffering, guarding the gospel, Scripture’s sufficiency)?

Conclusions: What do you hope God will teach or change in you during this study?

Prayer: Ask the Spirit to open your eyes and strengthen your resolve to grow.

We tend to overflow with what fills us, so let’s get the Word In to get the Word Out!
