OTKC – A Reminder

Before embarking on the journey of exploring more of the series, it’s worth highlighting what the series is about, which you can find in this initial series introduction.

It’s been something that I’ve been keen to explore because of the nature of what it is to be a follower of Jesus, and often I think it’s overlooked and simplified, when there is great benefit to meditate on these commands to put them into action.

Since the first entry, there have been a total of 24 episodes, considering the commands that Jesus delivers in the gospel accounts. They are as follows:

– Repent – a stunning command to start the journey of following Jesus

– Follow Me – a look at the heart of what it is to respond to this initial command

– Rejoice in Persecution – a surprising, counterintuitive command from Jesus

– Let Your Light Shine – this command cannot be overlooked or underestimated

– Honour God’s Law – a command to put all commands in their proper perspective

– Be Reconciled – such a challenging command to enact and so pivotal to right relationships

– Avoid Lust – Jesus is not messing with this command that hits the heart over the action

– Keep Your Word – it’s easier said than done in a world of compromise – it’s still a command.

– Go the Extra Mile – carrying out this command is very challenging, but God helps us

– Love Your Enemy – one of those commands that are distinct in making us like Jesus.

– Be Perfect, Like Your Heavenly Father – this command isn’t asking for too much, and yet ….

– Give in Secret – Part of the secret acts of righteousness, and helps prioritise relations with God

– Pray in Secret – Communication is key, and right relations are in place when this command stands.

– Fast in Secret – We won’t ever get into growing in knowing Him unless we follow this command.

– Lay Up Your Treasures in Heaven – the best banking policy is a strong command given by Jesus.

– Seek First the Kingdom – Priorities are so important that this command is foundational

– Judge Not Hypocritically – Does God really say do not judge and that’s it? Check the command.

– Ask, Seek and Knock – This command keeps us active in our relationship with God.

– Do Unto Others – It’s not just a golden rule – this is a command that we gotta obey.

– Enter the Narrow Gate – So many want to take the easy path, but that’s not this command.

– Beware False Prophets – This command helps us with discernment and appreciating Jesus.

– Pray for Workers of the Harvest – It’s not just a request; this is a command!

– Preach the Kingdom of Heaven – When following Jesus, He commands what we’ve got to proclaim.

– Demonstrate Kingdom Rule – Jesus commands us to go and show, not just go and tell.

– Fear God, Not Man – When we apply this command, all of a sudden, we can be brave and bold.

These bring you up to date with the series so far, and I’m eager to return to continue the series every week!

For His Name’s Sake
