Why The Tears?

Someone noticed the tears streaming, so afterwards they reached out and offered the kindness of friendship. It was a great act of kindness and compassion.

But why the tears?

Tears can be connected to sorrow. Hurt, pain, loss, longing, desperation, frustration and a range of other depressing factors can cause the streams.

Yet on this occasion, something else was the cause of the outpour.

Someone had been talking about giving and appeared to mention everything other than Jesus.

But I remembered Jesus. I remember how much He gave for the glory of the Father. How much He gave for the reconciliation of lost humanity back to its Creator. I remember how much He gave to resolve the biggest problem and fulfil the greatest plan for eternity.

I remember how this grand operative universal plan was so magnificently resolved and fulfilled through what He gave. I recalled how, having outlined aspects of this glorious news, one writer said it was a reasonable response to offer up to Him our bodies as a living sacrifice, totally pleasing.

As I recalled what He gave and was reminded of what I give in response, the tears of overwhelming gratitude and joy flowed. He gave everything. He then gives His life to me, so that even the ability to write these words comes from Him.

It is reasonable to express such gratitude through streams. It is reasonable that He gets all of my life.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom

  1. Well said sir. Sometimes it doesn’t take a whole lot of words to share a deep truth. It’s a gift (as you mentioned) and in this instance a well deployed gift.
