Dryden Shorts: You’ve Changed

“You haven’t changed a bit.”

It’s said as a comment of flattery; to reassure someone of the consistency of character over time.

It sounds like a compliment.

Hopefully, it’s not true.

Hopefully, you have changed. Changed for the better. Improved. Developed. Matured.

The alternative would not be a reflection of unchanging consistency. It would reflect, if anything, getting worse.

It’s not always obvious where the change happens, but here’s hoping the change is there to be seen as a sign of growth in life and not decay to death.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom

C. L. J. Dryden
