What kind of year was 2021 for me?
Interesting, intriguing, fascinating, thrilling, challenging and unexpected would be some of the words to make a start in describing the year.
Key developments have taken place in the lives of my daughters and it has been such a blessing to observe their progress in life. My wife has gone through a lot and just when she thought things would ease up, she’s thrust into more challenging times. Through all of that, however, her resilience and determination as well as boundless energy of love remain the very heartbeat of the family.
We have enjoyed so many social interactions with precious people over the year. It’s beautiful to cultivate relationships that have been around for years and it’s beautiful to come across new relationships that have already produced wonder and joy. It brings a sweet smile to my face recalling those occasions, conversations and relational encounters.
In the recent edition of the blog conversation, I’m having with my brother, he asked a question about a book. Specifically, a book that I’ve had in mind to write. I could repeat what I said there here, but this is the beauty of links.
In 2020, among other things, there was a refreshing time to have a look again at what I was to do with my life as a follower of Jesus. Part of that involved making the most of what I have in the time that I have to be a blessing to those that I can. The number of entries on this blog should give you the impression that words are my delight.
I want to make the most of those and was able to do some good with it in 2021 not just on this blog but with other projects. The idea is to continue with that and go further, not just with a book but other projects as well. I will not be foolish in pursuing too many things at the same time. I will accept the good counsel to be clear on what I’m focused on doing.
In line with that, as proved to be effective last year, I’ll be spending the first few months of the year reducing the content on this blog to four posts per week. The schedule should look something like this:
- Sunday – A Dryden Blog Conversation;
- Tuesday – The Old Testament Series;
- Thursday – The New Testament Series;
- Saturday – Dryden Shorts
There could be occasional special entries from time to time. There were a few guest entries and that might happen again in these months. I certainly have not permanently ditched the Word of Wisdom series. Indeed I hope it will find a good outlet sooner rather than later. Yet to be true and fair to the process, I will look to stick to the schedule.
As I said, I felt that approach last year worked well and produced some good things at the time. I’m hoping that it will produce even more good things on this occasion. There is no guarantee given and I appreciate that people can have plans, but it’s the Lord’s will that prevails. I’d much prefer to be in line with the will of the Lord. It’s a pleasure to serve and be a blessing. It’s a delight to be doing what I do, I just want that to flourish further and that requires being planted in good ground, ever looking to the Lord to feed me, direct me and strengthen me.
For this to work, I need your help. Yes, you. I need your prayers. Those are not meaningless to me. Praying for wisdom, strength and resources to be fruitful. If there’s any other way you can be of support to what’s going on in making the most with the way with words, please contact me on this email address – damancd@gmail.com.
That’s where things are with me at the moment. Thanks again for taking the time to read the blog – this entry and the others that have been written and posted over more than a decade. I love doing this and knowing that people read these and are blessed by them. It’s great to know and I hope to look to improve in this for me and for you, but most importantly …
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
C. L. J. Dryden
