Character.
So much in life thrives or dies because of character. The ability to consider things before you and respond in a manner fitting of the situation can be the difference between great good taking place or that great good being turned into something so much worse.
One area in which that character is expressed is how we maintain self-control in very testing situations. To that end, I’m glad I came across this article written by David Mathis over at Desiring God on the issue of A Strange and Holy Calm. This is the kind of article I read more than once in one sitting. I do that because it challenges me to look again at Jesus and the character He displayed which wasn’t devoid of emotion but could never be confused for being rash and impulsive even if some of His actions more than upset the status quo.
The Spirit of God in us leads us to Jesus not just as a figure worth admiring, but as an example of character worth following. My desire is that such noteworthy calm as granted by the Spirit of God will be the hallmark of those of us who want Him to be our lives. After all, it’s a matter of …
Character.
