It bothers me.
I understand about when a lot of people are in the same location, it somewhat limits what you do and the idea of it being easier to set something at the front for everyone to focus on and then an individual or a group of individuals can be the focus for the occasion. I understand that. I get it. That being the norm for what we do when we gather, however, has never sounded right to me.
Jon Zens is one of those followers of Jesus that helped me to get an understanding of what was bugging me. This video gives a good outline as to the options open to us as we gather. I invite you to consider what he shares and then see what you think in the light of your understanding of what Jesus expects from us.
