There are certain issues in Christendom that arouse a great deal of argument and debate. Many of those issues don’t really merit that much in the way of attention. They’re side issues that, typical of us as a species, we blow out of proportion and hold so dearly as if it’s a matter of eternal life or not. The tragedy of those particular arguments is that it doesn’t shed light into how we can faithfully follow Jesus and why His Word matters as a guide.
It’s with that in view that I refer you to Allen Parr’s The Beat. It’s a YouTube channel I’ve enjoyed visiting from time to time. Enjoy not because I agree with every thing he shares and I’m not interested in every video he posts. Yet I do admire his desire to base what he says on his reading of scripture. With that in view check out what he has to share on the issue of the wives of pastors being referred to as co-pastors.
Check it and where he’s coming from. Then as you consider the reasoning behind his position, see how that would affect other elements of church life as you know it. I won’t tell you what elements in particular, it might be worth scrutinising them all in the light of the method he uses to address this issue. See what comes from that exploration.
In the meanwhile, I’m grateful again for the online ministry of Allen Parr and commend it to you for your consideration.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
