A Word Of Wisdom: Words of the Wise will Protect

What words are we using? Why are we using those words? What is the desired outcome?

The thing about words of wisdom is the outcome that’s expected from them in contrast to what happens when wisdom is not applied. Foolishness and pride are put together in this sentiment. The scenario is not unusual.

He comes into the office and tells those in his circle of just how good he was in that manager’s meeting. He’s all about how he told the manager how to arrange things and he had all the answers. He is not hesitant at all of letting his mates know just how he could do things better.

The next thing we know this same guy is given temporary responsibility for the team as the manager is away on a business trip. Now with the boasts that he made, the team looks to him to at least maintain things, but instead his inadequacies are exposed and the team essentially loses trust in him as he proves to them that he’s all talk and nothing to back it. All his ideas and plans came to nothing as he wasn’t able to back his statements with convincing actions.

It is one of a number of incidents that could be referred to as the proud talk of the foolish comes back to beat them up. It’s not that wisdom is cautious or does not assert it’s capabilities. It’s clearly that wisdom does not give anyone any opportunity to trap or beat up the speaker based on their own words.

It’s a wise course of action.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
