A Word of Wisdom: Foundations

Right relationship with God is so crucial to have a good grip on wisdom.

That statement cannot be overstated. Wisdom is so crucial to life. Without wisdom decisions that are made are liable to count for nothing. Without wisdom mistakes and bad moves are inevitable. Without wisdom joy and eace are elusive.

Wisdom is that quality that applies knowledge that is taken and understood in the right place in the right way. It’s wisdom that puts in just the right amount of milk in that cup of tea for that friend who pops over. It’s wisdom that enables the right response for the parent to a child who is misbehaving. It is wisdom that manages budgets well and exercise the right use of time. It is wisdom that know when to negotiate and when to stop the negotiations and bring in the heavy hitting languages.

Yet that wisdom is not possible at all to its fullest extent for the fullest flavour without a right relationship with God. That right right relationship is not a casual and chummy relations. It is based on the acknowledgement and due response to just who it is we’re engaging with. The awe, the splendour, the magnificence, the power, the magnitude, the sheer infinite nature and wonder of God is not something that we shrug at and get on with making our demands. We don’t make demands of this God. We approach with reverence. We make requests and we express gratitude at the opportunity to engage in a relationship with Him. As we get to know Him as He expresses Himself, so the wonder and admiration deepens. Not only that, but so the path is open to receive and engage with that wisdom that helps us in every aspect of life.

This is why a good start to a series on a word of wisdom, is about the best foundation for wisdom.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
