Headphones on, he kept walking. In the headphones were the words that would focus him on what he was doing and why was doing it. Not just inspired words, but infromed words taht instructed him as to how to do what he needed to do.
He kept that on and kept walking even as others were looking to draw his attention to other things. They would yell at him thinkking it would distract him. They would point at their issues as though it would grab his interest if he saw something. Yet for all their efforts, what he was listening to just kept him focused. It became rhythmic and established a routine in his head that propelled his feet and informed his hands.
When others were particularly making efforts to get him away from what was going on, there would be someone else he would see with their set of headphones on. He would notice them making progress with their own rhyhtm and focus. He noticed them and saw something that encouraged him to keep going. Keep going, keep focusing, keep the noise out to let the sound in that would lead and direct him.
This is how he got on in his journey. He kept walking, headphones on.
