It Is Different: A Word on Perspective

It is different.

To say that about what happens when we have an encounter of the divine kind through the sharing of the gospel is an understatement. It’s not just about associated feelings and a sense of something new taking place. A radical shift has happened that changes everything. Especially the way we think about things.

That becomes all the more evident when contrasts are made between the way we think before Christ to the way we think because of Christ. The way of viewing the world is not the same. The way of seeing things is not the same. The way of experiencing things is not the same. There is something about accepting the good news of who Jesus is that means acknowledging Him as Lord and that brings about something different to how we were before and different to how things are framed by the world around us.

That’s why there’s an ongoing conflict. The desire by the flesh, world and the evil one to return to the old way of seeing things. The urge by these forces to just accommodate whatever new is going on with what the old was like as though the two can co-exist in the same space.

They cannot co-exist though. They are incompatible. One will have mastery over the other. One will have the main influence and seek to remove aspects of the other.

This is why every day we need the reminding to have our minds renewed in the word of God. Our minds renewed by the Spirit of God. Our minds renewed to see things the way He wants us to see them. Focused on Him and how His righteousness informs daily decisions and onging relationships.

There isn’t a novelty value thing attached to this. It’s not different and pretty for being different for a while. The shift is huge.

It is different.
