Get The Message Across (TMIM #05)

It’s interesting.

Does the message matter that much to us? Is it as life-changing as we make out in our holy huddles? Is it really worth all that fuss?

It’s interesting.

Things of far less importance and value is spread around with the urgency of it being a matter of life or death. So much is invested in the effective marketing of things that are of irrelevance even in the minor things of life, let alone the major ones. People are handsomely paid in the employ of products and services that give the impression of adding value, but have all the use of a plaster on a broken leg or a glass of water on a blazing inferno.

Yet here we are with a message that turns the most wretched types into figures of compassion and self-sacrifice. Here we have a message that has brought profound reconciliation between people previously bitterly opposed to each other. Here we have a message that offers a hope that blazes in a manner that nothing can quench. Here we have a message that heals the broken-hearted and sets free the imprisoned. Here we have a message that delivered people from the captivity of addiction.

Here we have this message and all we’re called to do is get the message across. We’re not told to be concerned about the results of it once it’s delivered. We’re not to worry about prettying up the message or adding anything to make it more palatable. We have received the message, right? Our lives have been changed by the character at the heart of the message, right? We have compassion for those who yet to hear that message, right? As we have compassion for those who have not yet embraced this message, right?

That compassion and that opportunity combined with that intimate knowledge of the message propels us to just get that message across however we can and whenever we can.
