The school has a list of values they hope their children to exhibit. There was a lot on there that made the parents feel proud that they were sending their children to such an elites educational establishment.
“Dad,” said Tim, “Why aren’t you interested in me joining the school? It looks the part, Dad, the teachers seem alright.”
“I just have this thing about their focus on pride, son.”
“Is there something wrong with having pride? I’m sure all they mean is that they want children to treat their work properly.”
“I know, son. I know. I’m sure the school means well. There’s just something that feels off about it. I think their pride is a bit more than taking care of the work that they do. Look at how they display their achievements like they’re the greatest thing. I’m all for striving to be the best you can be … but … “
“What’s up, Dad?”
“Tim. When you do well, should it be only down to what you did?
