Abba:
You showed the situation.
When my sin had caused such a deep chasm between us, when justice needed to be satisfied, when what was right needed to be fulfilled. In that state I was not only totally inadequate, I was totally apathetic. I was totally rebellious, whatever fleeting moments of other thoughts, I wasn’t interested in truly knowing you.
In that condition you gave your only Son. Jesus lived, Jesus embodied what it is to be human and Jesus suffered. Jesus suffered in His body. Jesus suffered the wrath that belonged to me. Jesus suffered the loss of what was essential in all of life. Jesus suffered.
But that suffering made the way possible for me to have a right relationship with the Father. That suffering removed the restrictions. That suffering turned the misery and despair into joy and peace.
So it’s reasonable in the light of all you’ve done to take part in the suffering. To partake in the good news by enduring the shame and pain. To endure the cross. It is reasonable in the light of your love.
The suffering is not possible to go through in my strength. The suffering is not possible to handle in what I go through. But as I surrender to you, thank you that the same strength that enabled Jesus to endure can enable me to endure. The same Spirit that rose Jesus triumphantly, gives me the ability to rise triumphantly. For it is no longer my life, but yours.
For that I am forever grateful. For that I am forever needful of you and all you are. For that I call out to you and rejoice in what you have made possible.
Thank you, Abba.
