The Message in March (TMIM): Introduction

There is a tone of voice my parents had that gave the game away.

My Mum in particular couldn’t hide it if she had something very positive to say. Growing up, good news was usually about treats. This is why Thursday was the best day of the week. That was the day when we would get the treats. She had a tone of voice, however, when she was going to share something positive. A tone of voice and a particular facial gesture that gave the game away.

Something happened that was good. We found out about it because our Mum told us. We enjoyed the good thing.

There is a world still waiting to receive the good news. Not about getting their treats. Not about having all their dreams come true. Not about escaping reality by entering a fantasy realm of leisure. This is the good news that there is more to life than suffering. More to life than failure. More to life than mediocrity. More to life than being fed tales of something better and being perpetually disappointed. There is more to life than that.

In fact life does not have to be defined by those narratives. The good news involves a new way of looking at the story of your life.

It is worthwhile looking into that good news again. The source of the news. The content of the news. Those who deliver the news and the challenges they face in sharing it. As well as the response to it.

The desire of this series to stir up an interest in the message again so we can be mindful of when to share it.
