It makes them stand out.
People clearly think that success is like a good cake. You get the right ingredients, in the right mix, prepared over the right time and delicious times await.
Plenty of words have been expressed reviewing those ingredients that have worked in individuals, partnerships teams, groups, companies and organisations that appear to have succeeded over the years. Interviews, documentaries, channels, books, web-sites and maybe the occasional blog entry have pored over what it was that made success in the past and can contribute to success in the future.
In retrospect, it is no coincidence that following a series on focus that ended on the issue of success, this entry should come along continuing on the theme of success but from another perspective.
Living the good life is still all about what it is to truly live and doing that to the maximum. There are a lot of suggestions that offer a process to experience that. The one that remains above those, however, is the life of Christ. Jesus offers those who believe in Him abundance of life and He should know, seeing as though He showed it and proved it to have a quality far greater than even death itself.
What is it then that marks out His followers as going with that life that reflects His?
There is a wonderful passage of scripture – Romans 12:9-21 – that’s a passage rich in nuggets of instruction for the way that reflects Christ. A great compliment to the teaching that Jesus gave that is known by some as the Sermon on the Mount.
It’s worthwhile to view this passage to look in a bit more detail to truly see those marks that reflect that desire to succeed at the great pursuit of life – the pursuit of the good life. Perhaps as we do so, we’ll apply more of what it takes for us to stand out.
