Eden Weekly #02: It Must Happen

(Welcome to Eden Weekly, the blog inspired by the name of the ministry of Shirley R. Evans. I hope you will be duly encouraged and challenged by the words she offers. For His Name’s Sake, Shalom, C. L. J. Dryden)

There is a little three letter Greek word dei which is huge in its meaning.

The literal translation is “what must happen” Or “what is absolutely necessary. This Greek word dei is not to be confused with the Latin word dei with the same spelling but meaning deity or God. But one could argue that in order to confidently declare the Greek dei – of “it must happen” one needs to know and understand the Latin Dei- God, because only God can confidently declare that a thing must happen. God is “The God of the Word” and He God is in control.

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:10-11

Our God is the God of His Word and His purposes and plans must be accomplished. No scheme or plan of the enemy can frustrate the plan of God. If God say so it must happen. Isaiah tells us that God’s Word cannot come back to Him empty. If it goes forth from His mouth it goes forth with power and purpose.

In Acts 23:11 Paul receives a direct Word from Lord. God tells him to take courage and that he must also testify in Rome. In the remainder of the chapter we read of the plot to kill Paul, an ambush is planned with 40 Jews waiting to carry out his murder. But we also read how God made a way out. God used the might of the Roman Empire, the enemies of God’s people, to deliver the man of God.

The application for today is: Take heart, God’s Word must stand. God’s will must be done, and His purpose must be accomplished. When we pray – we do so knowing that God’s will must be done.

In our personal lives we likewise take heart knowing God’s will must be done.

  • The ministry you feel God has called you to- It Must Happen
  • The business you feel God is leading you to set up- It Must Happen
  • The husband you have believed the Word of God for- It Must Happen
  • The children you are praying over- It Must Happen

Sometimes it seems that our plans have been ambushed by the enemy, or we are being attacked on every hand, or that our just cause is overlooked:

  • We lose our job when we were expecting promotion
  • The Pastor sees everyone else but you
  • The children or the husband get worse when you are expecting better

But my encouragement once more is to take heart – Dei – It must Happen.

God will do for you just what He said He will do. Paul was arrested and sent to Governor Felix and then to King Herod. He was kept under guard in the King’s palace. In the palace not in a dungeon or a prison cell. The Bible says that a one’s gift will make room for them and take them before great men. Paul got to preach the Word of God to the Governor and the King!

Don’t worry about your God given talents, your petitions and God given visions. Even if they seem to be coming to nothing. Don’t worry about who seems to be standing in your way. God’s will for your life must be done. Our God says so.

We have nothing to worry about
