God’s idea.
His wisdom would be on display through the work of people together. Not through the efforts of just an individual. Not in what one person does on their own and what they achieve. No, His wisdom is on display when His Body is at work and His united Body functioning is made up of individual parts collaborating and cooperating to express the life of Christ and His rule on the earth.
That means this life is not about making it on my own. Success in life is not about my achievements. It’s being part of the wider tapestry. It’s seeing how we weave together and what we express together about the life of God. It’s what more we are being together than we ever could hope to be on our own.
It’s very easy to pay lip service to life together, Kingdom business together and displaying the wonder of Christ together. Things happen that sours relations. There’s not so much a tendency to flow freely with others because of scepticism and some cynicism. Hurts and losses, disappointments and misunderstandings can make cooperating mostly a nominal enterprise.
This is where the Spirit of God makes such a difference. Being forgiven by God restores right relationships vertically. Extending that forgiveness and experiencing that with others reinvigorates right relationships horizontally. Persisting with that and pursuing this awesome plan of God’s together allows us to overcome those significant relationship hurdles. Then as we see the great mission of God and our role in it, so we can be enthused about how we work together to produce something so great reflecting such a great God.
It is wonderful and glorious. It is possible by faith and humility. It is worth searching for in Christ. It’s what the world is looking for. It’s what the Kingdom expresses and so what we commit to do. And it’s all …
God’s idea.
