What was it, I’m doing again? What did I say I would do? I just need to check that again.
Of course I can check that on my own. After all it’s what I agreed to do. It’s even more helpful to get another perspective on it. Someone who was aware of the journey and aware of what the project was scheduled to be. Someone who has an insight into me or the kind of thing I’m doing. Someone else to offer some commentary to consider. It’s not to say that everything they say will be the truth and be accurate. It’s certainly not to put them in the place of God.
It is to acknowledge my capacity for self-delusion. Either too critical or not critical enough. Sometimes it is someone else who sees the blind spots. Sometimes it is someone who highlights aspects to celebrate that would have been otherwise overlooked.
That other pair of eyes. That other set of ears. That other mind and approach with the heart of love and desire for righteousness. That person to check that all is as it was set out to be when you realised the issue, engaged with the issue, and activated the changes towards what the desired outcome was all about. That is a wonderful blessing – a blessing put in pace so that what we longed for at the start would somehow be reached. With all of that in mind, it looks so promising …
… But will we reach?
