Who Rules? The Daily Opportunity

Why? He took me from slavery. He saw what I was addicted to and set me free. He did not set me free for me to go back into slavery.

Yet – that has been the tendency. To get caught up with debilitating addictions, persuasive chains, enticing entanglements that leaves me sinking fast. All because I want to do it my way, all because I think I can make it on my own.

So, He doesn’t just offer to take me out of the mire. He offers me a path to stay out of the mire. Not only does He offer me a path out of the mire, He offers me a journey with others to live free from the mire and free to support others out of the mire.

The offer, however, is contingent on acknowledging His rule.

Every day gives the opportunity to acknowledge His rule and operate by His life. the choice is there. It is not a choice that screams and shouts. It’s not a choice that is dressed up to look like a glittering new toy. It is not sold on glamour, it is valued on eternal substance.

Every day the opportunity is there to choose it. No one forces me to do so. Indeed, quite a number of forces appeal for me to make an alternative choice.

Every day the opportunity is there to choose.
