Like The River Flow, You May Never Know …

My wife has reached a significant milestone in her life’s journey.

She thought, after taking advice, that it would be a good idea to mark the occasion with one of those Zoom parties. It was amazing seeing a selection of the lives that she has touched. These people ranged in background and personality. Folks connected from different countries and it was touching to hear tributes from family and friends who were able to share of what she had done.

What was on display was about what happens when people love people. We have no idea of the impact we make on people’s lives when we love them. Not love them in a sentimental and mushy manner – but love them with a love that must have been sourced in the divine heart of God. Love on display doesn’t just affect the life of the one in direct receipt. It flows to those who are in that person’s sphere of influence. That impact is not about the personality of a regular person. That impact is of what happens when someone realises what manner of love the Father has given to them that they should now be called a child of God. What’s experienced is the amazing and unmistakable love of God.

It’s part of the genius of God that He chooses to express it through broken vessels, cracked pots and marred jars. It’s part of His genius that as these parts of the kitchen containers allow themselves to be used by the Master, others benefit in such a way that they will turn to the Master. Turn to Him, lift their eyes to Him, give their lives to Him so that they too can be used to be a blessing to others.

My wife will never know all of the lives that she has touched with love. My wife will never know all of the lives that she has reached. She, herself, is someone who is a recipient of the love of God from people who will never know that their impact reached her to reach the lives of many. This is part of the wonder of God.

This is also why your life is not insignificant. Where you are and in whatever condition you find yourself in, you can still be a beneficiary of the love of God. You can still acknowledge this and embrace it. And in the embracing, realise that this is not just something for you. This is something to impact the lives of others, so like the river flow affects all along the path, your effect can be a blessing to yet more people than you may never know.

But God knows …

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
