Who Rules? Who Vindicates?

The judges returned the verdict.

Although there was probable evidence that the act had taken place, the manner in which the evience was gathered and utilised contravened the procedures outlined in the code of conduct. Therefore on those technicalities the accused is free to go.

The court has exonerated the accused. There is no charge found on his record. Yet for all those who come across the accused, there still lingers that taint on the character. That smear that says although no guilt was found, it was all about legal technicalities.

The Judge returned His verdict.

People doubted whether this joker would be a good king. Yet when it came to the test, the Judge enabled the one in the dock to present the qualities that would vindicate him beyond any shadow of doubt. All who witnessed the strenght of character, resolve, wisdom and ability to mobilise and motivate the people could see clearly that his guy was right for the task. There could be no doubt about the vindication.

People doubted whether that guy from the middle of nowhere really could be the promised rescuer-king. Yet His obedience to the point of the cross and His character of compassion, mercy and righteousness could not be denied even by his fiercest critics. That He also went onto defeat the powers of death and the grave displayed beyond any shadow of doubt He was the one. There could be no doubt about the vindication.

People doubt whether folks can be forgiven of gross wrongs. They sneer at the thought of truly living free of guilt and shame and embracing the freedom found in right relationship with the Ultimate Judge. They mock the very notion and concept that there is any other vindication than the one to be sought in scientific reasoning, the public opinion or through the law courts.

People can doubt today, but there is a time coming when there will be no doubt about who vindicates and who will be vindicated.
