Who Rules? Above The Fray

Perspective is vital when it comes to ruling.

Limited or compromised perspective tends to lead to ineffective and fragile states of rule. Considered and perceptive perspective can be the difference between a missed opportunity and one seized and utilised to the full to the benefit of those under that rule.

Some can get so wrapped up in the immediacy of the moment and the intensity of the time that they fail to realise the bigger picture. There is a Ruler, though – a gracious and wise King who is able to rule with the right perspective. He rules very much concerned with what we’re going through in the here and now. He is touched with our issues, because He knows what it is to go through them. At the same time, He is able to touch on things of the eternal perspective. He sees the merits of investing in what is above, rather than what’s on the earth.

He sees and knows that while we battle and struggle in the skirmishes of the day, what we don’t need is someone too bogged down in it. He knows that we need someone who can view things from above the fray. Trust and hope in Him is the investment of what is most valuable is to Him who lives in the eternal. That is not just a statement about the time, that is a statement about the quality of life as it was always meant to be. This is why the desire of this King is for those who live in His rule to see that which is in heaven on earth.

The encouragement, then, is to look up to Him who is above the fray. To look to Him who has won the victory over that which threatens those in this Kingdom of Light today. To look to Him and trust Him as we go through knowing that He has the perspective and so can rule and guide us along the right paths. He can lead us not into temptation, but He can deliver us from the evil one.

It is only through His rule that these benefits can be experienced. It is only through His rule that we can even experience peace and assurance in the middle of tough and perplexing times. This is not because we have all the answers to what perplexes and confuses. It is to say we have the one who can lead us through this and allow us to emerge with joy and many reasons for thanksgiving.

The alternative sees at best sophisticated and well-reasoned stumbling and fumbling from one blunder to another. Indeed certain forces thrive on the confusion and resulting conflict because as long as the focus is on the fray and not even a good understanding of that, there can be no real progress or development. Only stagnation and regression.

The encouragement, then, is to look to the King. To look to Him who is above the fray.

He has just the perspective that is needed.
